Speedway Miracle Tournament Helps Change Kids’ Health “fore” kids at James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital

On the course for more than 30 years, Speedway, a part of 7-Eleven family of brands, has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to raise more than $150 millionfor local children’s hospitals like Maynard Children’s Hospital. Speedway makes giving easy and possible at the local level – gathering donations from in-store campaigns, vendor promotions and the annual Speedway Miracle Tournament, June 13 & 14, 2022.

Golfers come together to raise funds and allow children the opportunity to get the specialized care they need. Hospitals transform how they meet urgent needs, while also maintaining an exceptional standard of care for children like Braxton.

Braxton was born prematurely at 27 weeks weighing only 2 pounds and 2 ounces. He spent his first 146 days, nearly 5 months, in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital. He developed necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) that resulted in him needing to have all but 18 cm of his intestines removed. Usually when this happens, a child receives their nutrition through an intravenous route or by a G-Tube, however as of November 2016, he is able to eat through his mouth.

Thanks to the life-saving treatment and care provided by the pediatric team, Braxton has a world of possibility and loves to read, play video games and jump on the trampoline.

Braxton was able to attend this year’s event along with his mom, Jasmine, and grandmother, Carolyn.

They shared his story, got to know incredible advocates, enjoyed some treats and had a lot of fun. Together, with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Speedway and the 7-Eleven family of brands, we know when we change kids’ health, we unlock a world of possibility for their futures.
